Brevity is the Soul of Wit: Day (Twenty-four through Twenty-seven)

Today is the last day of NaPoWriMo, and I owe the Internet seven poems. Let’s see how many I can do just sitting here.

Man or Dog

He quivers at the door
and groans in his throat
seeing on the other side
his affirmation of self.
He sits in an attempt at patience
but his whole body is in motion
with his desperate desire
to be next to her.

There are few things more unhappy
than making a huge meal
spending hours on it, in fact,
your first attempt at it
trying something new
and having it turn out so well
and eating it

 Yes, I was chopping onions,
but that’s not why I–

When I’m home, in my home,
I want it to feel like home,
like stability,
like permanence.
Not transient or temporary
but stalwart and steady.
I want to be settled and unpacked
and soon.

It’s curious to think of how much I love you
and how little I want to be with you
as two made one
at least right now.
I love you so well
but I can’t help but wish
that you were
around a little more.

Three more to go! Oh lord. I’ll come back to this later if I have time. Hopefully.

  1. You’re doing good! You can do it, you can knock out the last three, I beliiiieeeeve in you!
By the way I totally failed. I dropped the ball about ten days ago and just never recovered…I ended up blogging about it earlier today to explain what the heck went wrong. It’s disappointing, but at least I know for next time just how hard this challenge is. You have done incredibly well this month! 🙂

  2. Enjoyable reading. I hope you will not stop at day thirty.
