Day Eleven: Since The Break-Up (A Story in Limericks)

Since The Break-Up (A Story in Limericks)

There once was a girl from a city,
who was generally thought to be pretty.
She went on many dates
and in tempting the fates
found that dating can often be gritty.

There first were some men who were charming,
but whose intensity was too alarming.
She politely said no
and then asked them to go,
though their friendship she knew she was harming.

Then he of the frequent recurrence,
who was sure to test her endurance;
and with each passing day
he again fades away
leaving her without any assurance.

And now something new may be looming,
and now something true may be blooming.
It remains to be seen
but she’s really quite keen
to see where this new thing may be zooming!

I’m not actually from a city, but when I wrote that first line this wasn’t going to be about me.

  1. My comment from yesterday suddenly ended. I must have used up the word count for comments. Anyway, I like your poems. You are better at it thant your give yourself credit. In this last poem, I hope you find some joy in whatever is “zooming.”

Tell me something
